Very useful information. My Aspie holds it together pretty well most days but when she does have a meltdown, poor peer interactions and self esteem issues are usually at the root of it.

Mark, thanks for the well-explained details about Why a child with Aspergers often acts out with such intensity. The ability to understand his/her own emotions; the impact of those emotions on others; and the meaning beneath the anger is what many call social intelligence. I often tell kids and families that I'm teaching them people smarts. They've already got the brain smarts down. Thanks also for pointing out that kids with Aspergers are smart; therefore cognitive therapy can be very effective for them.
