My daughter napped through the day then napped through the night and didn't sleep through the night til she started school and that was with major effort to keep her awake between 3pm and bedtime. Trying to keep her awake was a nightmare she was sleep at the table and just totally unexpectedly just "drop sleep" and nothing would wake her! Her aspergers wasn't diagnosed until over ten years later so the doctors prescribed phenergen which failed to see any effect so she was prescribed higher and higher doses until I gave up with doctors and just got used to not sleeping! I hope you find a solution as too many sleepless nights can really really drain the soul x x xAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1527055659904040434.post-76351599012324231672012-02-07T08:55:39.473-08:002012-02-07T08:55:39.473-08:00My son did not sleep through the night until he wa...My son did not sleep through the night until he was 7 years old. Nothing helped. We tried melatonin, relaxation techniques, following the SAME routine before bed time. bath with epson salts before bed time, yoga, not TV/Computer time at least 1 hr before bed, GF/CF diet (he is still in the diet), no artifial color or preservatives in food, no MSG, started supplements. etc. His anxiety was out of control and this made his sleep out of control. They fed each other and we were on a battle to exhaustion. After visiting numerous doctors (among them some charlatans) we were able to find someone who understood our situation and gave us solid advice. And going against what my husband and I originally wanted we tried meds - some with horrible side effects. The only one that helped us gain control over anxiety was zoloft. When our son was 7 yrs old we tried only 3 mg of zoloft (yes it can be created at that strenght by an apothecary not a regular pharmacy) as we insisted we wanted to go very slow after having witnessed horrible side effects with other meds. And for a year or so it did work along with keeping him into a night routine, balanced diet - both food and sensory - plus his supplements. He is now 12 yrs old - in no meds - and for the last 3 yrs or so he can even tell us when he is tired and NEEDS to go to sleep! This is HUGE for us! Sorry for the length of my post. Hope this helps.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1527055659904040434.post-73572533416054777112012-02-07T08:33:49.755-08:002012-02-07T08:33:49.755-08:00talk to the doctor about melatonin. I hear it'...talk to the doctor about melatonin. I hear it's a miracle if you have the right dose and take it early enough before bedtime!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
