School...My daughter just turned 18 and is a senior. School has always been a struggle, although she is extremely smart. As she’s gotten older and the work has gotten more difficult, her grades have gotten worse. We just found out she has tier 1 autism. Getting her to do her work is awful. She is failing her two classes. She leaves mid-day for work based learning (has a job.) She loves it. It is going well. She is very involved in church and has friends. However, when she’s home, she is stays in her room and is usually asleep or wants to be alone. The mention of homework to her causes a major meltdown. She has broken doors throughout the house and dented the wall in her room when in meltdown mode. It is so stressful. I want her to be able to graduate with her friends. I want to help her, but don’t know how.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
